Praying With Praxis - 11.23.2021

Thank you for praying with us. This week you can...

...ask God to raise up and train disciple-makers within our local jails and prisons and for our friends with Transforming Jail Ministries. Pray also for God to raise up workers in the jails and prisons near you.

...ask God open the doors for authentic spiritual conversations in our neighborhoods and networks - including the micro-church that meets in West Price Hill. Ask God to open doors for these conversations with the people in your neighborhoods and networks.

...thank God for all the ways He's provided for us. And ask him to continue to send us the right people and the right resources to continue to help people take Jesus' commission seriously. Thank and ask him to do the same in your life.

Our micro-churches are extended spiritual families who practice the life rhythms of Jesus. Some night we enjoy God, some nights we cultivate our relationships with each other, and other nights we do something good for others.

In a recent meeting, one of our churches read and reflected on Matthew 11 together.

“Come to me,all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

They saw that Jesus is a weight-lifter and a gentle teacher. We are complicated, needy, and put at ease. And God wants us to walk with Jesus in the yoke and to choose to live in an ongoing state of trust.

This led people to commit to taking 5 minutes to pray on their knees as a posture of surrender, to reading the next chapter of a book they started on abiding in Christ, to encouraging a friend at work and more.

You can try this too. By yourself or better yet with a few friends.

Read the passage slowly three times and fill in these blanks...

God is ________________.

We (humans) are _________________.

God want me to ______________________.

Then reflect back on all that you saw in the passage. Pay attention to anything that stands out to you. Something you really like or don't like or find confusing in some way.

Then commit to doing one simple thing. Try to keep it to something that will take 5 minutes in the next 24 hours.
